Sicillian Roast: A Hypnotic Culinary Contender

We became bona fide residents of Las Piñas City
on March 25, 2010.
So from being called Manileños, we came to be known as Southies.
My three sons and I settled in minus my husband who was still overseas when we moved out from Matienza Street, San Miguel, Manila. With one "angel" (house help) and Sultan, an aspin, we found it easy to assimilate in the new environment. The biggest shift though was our choice of dishes. The four of us turned into hardcore Italian food lovers!!! What followed was my learning the recipes for pesto, Alfredo pasta, aglio y olio (three varieties), baked lasagna, spaghetti bolognese, and truffle pasta. Ergo, discovering Mama Lou's (ML) in BF Homes, Parañaque City and falling in love with it at first taste was a great find! It added to our liking the South more. We became regulars of this diner. Personally, ML has been my most recommended venue for memorable meet-ups with special friends.

As a result, ML became the benchmark when we would eat in another Italian resto. We thought we would never find a challenger. Until we visited Sicilian Roast (SR) in Molito, Alabang.

Our first visit came on May 1, Friday. My husband, who arrived a day before for his end of contract break, decided that we dine out. The choice of Italian cuisine was quickly agreed upon. Larry, a forever loyalist to Filipino food, conceded since he was also craving for salad that night. Arthur, the older twin, had a place in mind when our first choice had a long queue of waiting patrons. According to him Sicilian Roast had just recently opened. We transferred to it and saw that it wasn't filled with customers yet. We were immediately seated at the second floor.

I smiled. The color schemes of the area where we were ushered caught my attention since they’re almost the same with the color of my OOTD. I could have camouflaged right there and then. Hahahaha!

Well, I liked the very clean and fresh appearance of this diner. It's perfect for stimulating one's appetite.

Then, we checked the menu book.

After serving the free plated bruschetta,

our order came one after the other. It was a short wait for us!

Caesar Salad

Penne Alla Siciliana

Carbonara Especiale

Mortadella

Quattro Formaggi

Seared Lasagna

Tiramisu

At this point, I would not be narrating each of our food review. Suffice it to say, we had full gustatory gratification that evening.

No wonder when Arthur scheduled a belated treat for Mother's Day which we spent in Pico De Loro, Nasugbu, Batangas on May 9,

we were unanimous in picking Sicilian Roast again on May 17! My husband and the twins waited for Knight and me after watching Jesus Christ Superstar.

For the second time, we were seated at the second floor, but on a different spot. It didn't take long for us to pick what we wanted that Sunday evening.

Cioppino

Caesar Salad

Mortadella

Mateo

Spaghetti with Meatballs

Truffle and Italian Sausage

Pesto Cream

Nonna's Chocolate Cake

Huge BURP from us and for sure there will be a third, a fourth and until our taste palates become disenchanted. I swear this isn't a hyperbole!
