At long last, my curiosity
about what’s behind the imposing wooden gate which I would pass by in San Pedro, Laguna during my LSD runs…

… has been sated!
Together with two of my college best friends from Cavite, Beth and Beng, I keenly drove to this intriguing place. Covering roughly 18km from NOMO where I fetched my companions, I reached Casa Luisa three minutes before our guaranteed reservation at 3:00pm. Jeez! The parking area was maxed out. I waited for a vacant spot after instructing my friends to go ahead of me. So, this was how a Sunday looked like in Casa Luisa!
Entering the expansive first floor, I completely concealed whatever strain I had in surviving my bugbear.
Taking our seats, we readied to sample their traditional Filipino cuisine. The attentive and cordial waiter recommended their signature dishes when he noticed that it was taking us some time to decide on our order. Trusting his suggestion, we picked these victuals for our merienda.

All having a small appetite that afternoon, we still loved the food especially their celebrated empanadas of different flavors.
Consequently, I ordered a takeaway box for my three sons who are empanada-lovers.
Cleared our plates, we exuberantly began our exploration and binge photo-taking. We first went to the second floor…
… before we proceeded to the living room.
Seeing the interior decor and furnishing, one would know that Casa Luisa is a heritage home! The antiquated items and family photos on display gave us a sneak peek of a fascinating story, waiting to be told about this newfound dining destination in the south.
Everything in this house gratified the vintage enthusiast in me. Even on their dining table Casa Luisa used the classic crochet table runner and placemat. The coaster was drop-dead gorgeous too! Surely these added to the delightful meal.
When we exited the main door, we had already looked forward to having the best backdrop for more shots…
…and for a bit of drama, reminiscent of our dramatic arts subject. Ha-ha!
Great that we chanced upon a staff who became our very obliging photographer/videographer. If not for him, we wouldn’t see this ideal retreat for city escapists. A private resort, this can be booked through Airbnb.
For the record, Casa Luisa is the recent “eyewitness” to our enduring friendship that was rebooted after reconnecting in February last year.

In addition, this place provided us the comfort which we urgently needed on June 9, 2025. Certainly activating our cancelled reservation was a blessing after all.
